Polly Vinylchloryd and Friends

Some use electronic instruments to write songs, other use them to destroy songs. Join us for an evening of both. "I love putting on shows with my friends, and over the years I end up meeting so many like-minded musicians at shows who create entirely different works, but all aim for a common goal. Come listen to my friends and I make music, and maybe make some new friends in the crowd, see ya there!" - Polly V

In the experimental electronic corner is... BUNNY, serving disjointed hip hop beats paired with bizarre samples and mad genius beat boxing...

RXZZO, with a table top of plugged-in tricks, she serves a range of sounds from calming and meditative to unsettling and chaotic.

In the opposite corner is... "the man who fell to earth" ASTRONAUTO, introspective folk realism collides head on with expansive electronic dreamscapes using everything from acoustic guitars to fuzz basses, analog synths to manipulated paint cans...

POLLY VINYLCHLORYD, the Italian synth pop diva from Laawwng Island, serving analog cunt since 1992. If Giorgio Moroder was a drag queen and had a baby with Kraftwerk, and Gary Numan was the godfather and Brian Eno was the doctor who delivered the child, it would only begin to sound like Polly V's music.

Club: ???
Aug
16
to Aug 17

Club: ???

Club: ??? returns to Wonderville with an ode to the word "club," and the many forms of music that fit under its umbrella.

Ctyzn (@ctyzn) is a rare synthesis of passion, knowledge, and talent. A NYC-based DJ of 7 years and producer of 14 years, they weave together hip hop and club music of all kinds into a melodic, drop-heavy mix to create their own unique sound. A true musical chameleon, ctyzn is able to adapt to shifting energies while maintaining a consistent atmosphere that keeps crowds glued to the dancefloor.

Flora @beatsbyflora is a Japanese DJ, producer, and event curator based in Brooklyn. Her style focuses on underground hiphop and boombap beats. Her party Downtempo (@downtempoparty) has hosted events at local favorites Elsewhere and Jupiter Disco, and most recently, in Tokyo! While she’s made her name in the beat world, Flora will be expressing her love for funky and hard-hitting instrumentals with a special footwork set at Club: ???

Vianna (@vianna.verse) is a DJ, archivist, culturist, and curator born and raised in Newark, repping all of New Jersey. Known for her high-energy sets rooted in Jersey Club and footwork-driven dance music, she’s on a mission to preserve and uplift Black club culture. She’s played at notable venues like Elsewhere, Pianos, Bunkr, and Scratch Academy, bridging generations and genres through sound. Vianna’s work is about more than music — it’s about education, legacy, and ensuring club music is recognized on a global stage alongside other major dance genres.

FLWRSHRK (@flwrshrk) is a Jane of all trades, but most notably known for her work as a DJ and music journalist residing in the Bronx, NY. She has a unique way of seamlessly blending hip hop, club, and vogue beats and is just as passionate about telling the stories of the artists behind the various genres on her media and publishing platform, HangTime Magazine. Over the past decade she has been consistently shaking dance floors and breaking music from up and coming artists in her sets.

Kweku (@kweku.nyc) is the Club: ??? curator and resident DJ, proudly repping both Queens and Ghana. His style is informed by the punchy club kicks that can be heard around Brooklyn’s hotspots and the funky percussive beats from throughout the African diaspora. In addition to Club: ???, he runs the party series Beats without Borders (@beatswithoutborders) celebrating Afro-diasporic electronic music, and is a resident of Half Moon where the accompanying radio show airs on the second Thursday of each month.

TULENGUA - borderless sounds from Tijuana

Tulengua is a bilingual supergroup from both sides of the most crossed border in the West (Tijuana/San Diego). Their foundation is hip hop, but they freely explore all genres and sounds yet to be defined. Their home base in Las Californias gave them a boundless vision. Tulengua exists to melt borders and bridge divides.

Tackycardia: 022

For our 22nd event at Wonderville, we’re joined by Portland-based artist Dave Quam (fka Massacooraman) – an artist with releases on Fade to Mind who is equally known for his writing on music as he is for his interpretation of Chicago footwork/ghettotech.

In addition, Nymph brings her high-energy techno sound to the table following an appearance for She/They/DJ. DJ Girlcrush, who hosts the Rat Girl happy hour as well as Swallowed open decks, brings her signature blend of hyperpop, trance, and techno.

8 Ball Radio resident Antron, whose show Basal Rate showcases all things hypnotic, returns to the series. The lineup is rounded off by residents Cryostatik, DJ Allegation, and Alex Viper.

As usual, Tackycardia is a 150+ genrefluid affair with free entry and free-to-play arcade games. Donations are welcome to further support our events and can be made via cash in the tip bucket on the stage or via Venmo through our QR code that you’ll see posted around the venue.

Crossfade: A T4T Open Decks

Voluminous Arts is back with our open decks series for anyone self-identifying as transgender who is a DJ, aspiring DJ, or curious about DJing! It’s CROSSFADE: a T4T Open Decks, on Thursday July 10th 8pm - 2am Hosted by CMD+JAZMINE and Xana 101 at Wonderville, 1186 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11221.

Based on the understanding that DJing plays an increasingly important role in the lives of many trans artists, Voluminous Arts is launching this series to provide access to DJ equipment in a club environment to self identified trans and non-binary people. Trans people interested in learning to DJ, upcoming or accomplished Trans DJs, and Trans folks curious about DJing are invited to sign up for a slot, bring their Rekordbox formatted USB and play!

Each edition of CROSSFADE raises funds to benefit a trans community member in need. In July we’ll be raising funds to support Lucy York, a musician and composer living in New York whose solo and collaborative work articulates new possibilities for electric guitar in experimental and harsh noise settings.

Voluminous Arts is a cultural organization with a vision to build a community center for trans people in New York City. A suggested $10 donation will support our community directly, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Accessibility: Wonderville is on the ground floor so there are no stairs or ramps to get inside the venue. The front door is standard width as well as the entrance to the arcade/venue. Access to the backyard is slightly narrower due to how the building is constructed so some persons may have difficulty getting into the backyard area. There is also a ramp to access the rear deck. All of our bathrooms are gender neutral, and the first stall is wheelchair accessible.

The stage does not have a ramp, but they can provide a step stool to access the performance area.

Some of the arcades in the performance space use strobe lighting effects, and performances may involve bright lighting or loud music. Wonderville sells earplugs behind the bar if you need them. The sounds from the arcade games can be muted during performances (please ask the sound engineer) but they do not turn the games off.

Most events are standing room, but they can provide seating upon request.

In the arcade/performance space there are no tables to sit down, but they do have spaces in the bar. There are also large picnic tables in the backyard, weather permitting. The backyard is a quiet space with no screens or loud music.

They do not have a coat check, but there is a coat rack just inside the front door that patrons may use at their own risk.

If you need to report an issue during your time at Wonderville, please speak to the bartender or the security guard.

Please contact hello@wonderville.nyc if you have any specific accessibility questions!

Covid protocols: While we would love to provide on-site testing, Voluminous Arts does not currently have the financial resources to provide that, so please test before coming and stay cozy at home if you test positive or do not feel well.

Masking is welcome. Please respect the choices of your fellow attendees on the choice to wear or not wear a mask.

Stay tuned for further updates, we will be adjusting as needed if there are significant changes in Covid cases.

If you would like to partner with us to provide masks and/or testing, please reach out to info@voluminousarts.com.
